Accelerate your Elixir skills at Lonestar ElixirConf to build scalable and fault-tolerant systems! This year, attendees will hear inspiring keynotes from Chris McCord (the creator of the Phoenix Framework), Tim Mecklem (Nerves core team member), and Aaron Patterson (Ruby/Rails core team member).
Lonestar ElixirConf is focused on helping web and embedded developers accelerate their organization’s incorporation of scalable and fault tolerant software into their environment.
Lonestar ElixirConf 2018 will host 6 trainers, 10 speakers, 3 keynote speakers, and community driven lightning talks.
Join us for the gathering of Elixir developers, from novice to experienced, for up to three full days of education, networking and collaboration.
KEYNOTES
-
Chris McCord
Chris McCord is a programmer with a passion for science and building things. He spends his time crafting the Phoenix Framework, working with the fine folks at DockYard , writing books like Metaprogramming Elixir, and teaching others the tools of the trade.
-
Tim Mecklem
Tim works at Gaslight in Cincinnati, OH building software solutions on Ruby and Elixir and is a member of the Nerves Core team. He credits his previous experience in building iOS apps for changing the entire way he thinks about development. Those tiny screens gave Tim an appreciation for simplifying workflows that he applies to every application, and it nudged him toward Elixir and the Nerves Project. Today Tim lives in Mason, OH with his wife, two kids and two dogs. He loves running and has completed the full Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon twice.
-
Aaron Patterson
Aaron is on the Ruby core team, the Rails core team, and the team that takes care of his cat, Gorby puff. During the day he works for a small technology company called GitHub. Someday he will find the perfect safety gear to wear while extreme programming.

Create a Pusher Clone

Join Wavell Watson and learn how to integrate a real time component into your legacy Rails application with Elixir!
Those interested in getting a taste of Elixir can do so by attending a Pusher clone class taught by Wavell Watson. This class does not include conference attendance (you can still register for a conference only ticket) and is a great opportunity for those short on time but would like to have some hands-on experience with Elixir.
This class is taught Thursday, February 22 at Lonestar ElixirConf. Breakfast, lunch and tshirt are included with your ticket.
In part one, you set up a Rails frontend and backend with a connection to the Pusher service.
In part two, you replace the Pusher service with a service that you will write in Elixir.
See more details on the registration page.
